The Video Game Headquarters At The Mall

Video Game Headquarters Circular
KayBee Toys (1989)
Images of this advertisement were shared a few days ago by Dinosaur Dracula, and it immediately reminded me of going to the Wyoming Valley Mall and the Schuylkill Mall with my grandparents when I was a kid.  I used to run down to the arcade while my family was shopping, but I'd always stop at KayBee to see what new games they got in that week.

The games advertised in the Nintendo portion of this sales flier include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ninja Gaiden, Bad Dudes, Skate Or Die, Wrestlemania, Blaster Master, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, Faxanadu, Jordan vs Bird: One On One, Duck Tales, Mega Man 2, Cobra Triangle, Dragon Warrior, Blades Of Steel, and Paperboy.  I've played most of these when I was a kid at friends houses, but the only ones that were in my collection back in the day were Castlevania II and Dragon Warrior.  Also, I'm pretty sure I acquired Faxanadu in a trade at some point in middle school.

While I was definitely a Nintendo kid in 1989, I was practically drooling over the Sega Genesis.  I saved up money from birthday and Christmas cards throughout 1990 and 1991 until I finally had saved up enough to buy the console in the spring of 1992.  The games shown in this flier include Thunder Force II, Tommy Lasorda Baseball, Super Thunder Blade, Space Harrier II, and the game that came with the console at the time, Altered Beast.  I don't remember having any of these when I was a kid, although I did end up picking most of them up at yard sales and flea markets over the years.  Sega changed their pack-in title to Sonic The Hedgehog before I got my console.
