With Excitement Like This, Who Is Needing Enemas?

Short Circuit
Mahoning Drive-In Theater - Lehighton, PA
Tonight's Thursday Thread-Up is a movie that I've been looking forward to seeing on the big screen since the show was announced.

Short Circuit premiered in theaters when I was six years old.  I saw it for the first time a few years later when it was broadcast during an HBO or Cinemax Free Preview Weekend thanks to my grandfather.  He used to look through the television listings from the newspaper and set the timer of his VCR to record any movies that he thought that I might like when I came over to visit on the weekend.  These tapes were the foundation for what has become a lifelong love of cinema.  I wonder if he ever knew how much it meant to me that he took the time to record these for me.

The Mahoning had a Johnny 5 mailbox installed earlier in the season, so I couldn't resist taking a cheesy selfie with it prior to tonight's screening.

Short Circuit is one of my favorite PG movies of the 80's.  There's just something pleasant and cozy feeling about it, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face when I see it.  Having the opportunity to see it on 35mm on the big screen at the drive-in was a pretty special experience. and the secret feature was just the cherry on top.
