There are no words that can do justice to how delicious these pears are when they're ripe. They're so juicy that you have to eat them over the kitchen sink if you want to avoid making a mess.
When I was growing up (and well into my adult life), my dad gave a box of these pears to my grandfather every year as a Christmas present. Dad knew that my grandfather always shared them with me, so he started getting them for me since my grandfather passed away in 2011. Seeing them come in the mail always makes me smile, both for how good they are, and for the memories of enjoying them with my family during the holidays.
