The Christmas ornament from my alma mater this year is the Henry Student Center.  I've heard that they remodeled the place since I graduated, including the addition of a campus store called Colonel Corner.on the first floor, but I spent most of my time in this building at the dining hall on the third floor.

I forgot to order the ornament last year, but they had extras so I was able to snag one anyway.  This archway wasn't built until after I graduated, but I'm glad to see that it was put in.  It's on South Main Street across the street from the parking garage and next to a Starbucks on campus which used to be an Einstein Bros Bagels when I was in school.  I used to stop there every morning to refill my coffee... still miss their Tribeca Blend.

At this point in the apocalypse, you may be asking yourself what on earth you're going to do with all of these commemorative face masks if and when we can ever leave the house.  Not to worry!  Wilkes has helpfully provided you with this handy dandy chart of a dozen things you can do with this multi-purpose fabric.  I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to my future career as a Colonel Pirate.

I know that college isn't necessary for everyone, but it really was for me.  Wilkes was where I was able to prove to myself that I could set my mind to something and accomplish it.  This photo of the statue of John Wilkes on the greenway after a snowfall was in the 2019 university calendar.

Snazzy New Walkway

I had an interview a few miles away from my alma mater last week, so I decided to stop by and have a look at some of the changes on campus since I graduated.  The main difference I noticed was a new walkway that they built between the parking garage on South Main Street and the greenway.  They've also swapped out Einstein Bros Bagels for Starbucks.

This is my kind of guy.  Mr. McGroarty passed away five days ago, but he wrote his own obituary and it is memorable.  I was a student at LCCC while he was working there as an adjunct professor.  I didn't have him as a teacher, but if I did, I would definitely attend his funeral to hear the brief rant of how the government screwed up all of the Bugs Bunny cartoons.
